TRENDY DENIM

Denim is a trend that has and will always be around. So when I spotted this denim fabric at Unique, I scooped it up so fast. Denim fabric usually sells for $9.99 or more a yard, but I got about 2 1/2 yards for only $5.99. My first thought was to make denim culottes, but I wanted to make something that I could wear often. I decided to make a coat.

Traced my favorite dress again.

Before cutting, I folded it in half, so both sides are the same.

 Pinned and sewed the seams.

Marked and cut the neckline.

I ended up with two curved lines, which will be lapels,
then cut down the middle of only one side.

The denim was a little plain, so I turned up the sleeve, ironed and sewed.

Ironed and sewed all the hems.

Used left over fabric and made a belt.

FINISHED PRODUCT.

CAPPUCCINO MOCHA MAMI

Whenever I go to Unique, my first stop is the fabric section.  Material can be expensive, so I stock up every time I go.  My first inclination is to look for fabric with prints, but on this day, this cappuccino colored fabric caught my eye. I knew it would make the perfect versatile skirt for the Spring/Summer season. It was only $3.99 and it was 25% off Thursday, so it only cost $3.00.

The process is always the same. I used my chalk and twine as a protractor
to mark the hem line. Cut the waist line and hem line.

Cut a 4 inch waist band and pinned it to the skirt.

After attaching the waistband, I decided to put in a zipper.
Marked where it will end, cut straight down, pinned and sewed on the zipper.

I made this skirt prior to learning the tape technique.
