KIMONO WITH ME...

Kimonos are so versatile. They can be worn during every season. Kimonos dress up the plainest of outfits. They're also a great transitional accessory.

Spring: Throw on one when the air is still a little crisp.

Summer:  On hot days, slip on a sheer kimono.

Autumn: Start adding layers with a textured kimono.

Winter:  Throw on a knit kimono to stay cozy.

I lucked up on this sheer fabric at Unique and knew it would make a great kimono.
This has to be the easiest sewing project ever. I held it up to me
to see how long I want it to fall and laid it out and cut.

Next, while still folded in half, I measured down 22 1/2 inches and pinned it for the arm holes.

Then, simply cut straight down the middle of one side. (Make sure you don't cut both sides.)

Before sewing the front opening, I used tape instead of pins.
Epic Fail: The tape was so hard to get off and made the sheer unravel.
(I fixed it with a zigzag stitch)

I used a zigzag stitch to sew the seams under the arm holes.
(a regular stitch will rip and come undone)

PA PA PALAZZO!

I picked up this fabric at Unique for $3.99 during the colder months, but sometimes prints speak to you. This one said, "make me into palazzo pants! I replied, "Yes, ma'am!"

This sewing project is so easy!!! First I laid out the fabric and folded it in half.
I folded a pair of pants, that fit me loosely, and traced/cut a little wider for a baggy fit.

Lined up the crotch and pinned the leg seams.

Hemmed and added elastic to the waistband.

 Coachella vibes!

PEARL PEARLS PEARLS

Pearls Pearls Pearls all over the world. Isn't this fabric divine?  I picked it up at Unique for $2.99.
What would you make with a delicate fabric such as this? How about pillow shams?

This has to be the easiest project ever. Place pillow on fabric and cut around pillow.
Since the pillow should fit snug in the sham, seam allowance isn't necessary.

Turn inside out and sew the two sides together.

Use the first one you make as a pattern for the second sham.

Slide in pillow and you're basically done.

I cut off the scraggly strings and used a zig zag stitch on the edge to prevent further fraying.

VOILA!

Made paisley and chevron pillows on a previous project.
